Dec. 9th
"Run Run as fast as you can, you can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man." This week has been all about the Gingerbread Man. I have been helping the kids do their worksheets. We also just went on a hunt to try and find the Gingerbread Man. He left us clues all around the Elementary and ended up back in the classroom. What an imagination they have!

Dec. 2
Students were working on this whole week (for the time I was in the class) story books; they got to make a story that consisted of four pages on whatever theme they wanted. Some of the most used themes were dinosaurs and Santa Clause. For each page they actually illustrated what they wrote. I have been going around answering their questions and sounding out words with them. Very precious. Have a great weekend!

Nov. 18th
The classroom is already to the letter S in the alphabet, we're moving right along. Also this week we have been teaching the students about Pilgrims and Native Americans so they can have a little more knowledge about Thanksgiving. Lastly, I'm also helping kids sound out words in the -ig and -ip families that we did this week. :)

November 11th
Students are learning about pilgrims and shown their way of life versus ours. This is a little abstract for them but they are doing pretty good with it. Students are also working on word families (words that end in -at and -an) and I go around and answer any questions they have.
Autobiography
Hi, my name is Rebekah Strode and I go to Belle High School. I have a mom, dad, and brother. We have a dog and a cat. I drive a yellow car, and my favorite candy is a Heath Bar. Hobbies that I enjoy are sports, relaxing, and activities with friends. One of my strengths is that I can factually look at things and see the big picture. Some characteristics of my personality are being kind, respectful, and hard-working. Some things that I have done are snorkeling, para-sailing, and I often go to the NFL's Rams games. I have been to Florida, Chicago, and Arizona. I wanted to cadet this year for A+ because I like kids and wanted to see what it's like being a teacher. I will accomplish my goal when all kids in Miss. Dothage's class are successful. I believe that a good student exudes the qualities of communicating, focusing, and doing. A student must be able to communicate with the teacher to get questions answered and also communicate with classmates when they need help. Staying focused allows student's work to get done quicker and better. Good students must also be doers because it is essential they get work done and turned in on time. Good teachers must exhibit the qualities of organization, creativity, and planning. These three things bring success in a classroom by making the most of every second keep the keeping the class on their toes. I learn best when I have to figure things out by myself. For example, in chemistry we had to outline a section in the book by writing it on marker boards. I learned a lot because I had to teach myself first and then get up in front of the class and teach them. Some short-term goals I have are keeping a 4.0 GPA, getting above a 25 on the ACT, and go to a private college debt-free. Some long-term goals I have are graduating college, working a job I like, and being successful in life. No matter what obstacles occur, I plan on pushing through them and making the most of life!

November 4th! --Charactoristic of a GREAT teacher---What I learned.
Teacher's must be very innovative to keep a class engaged and wanting to learn. Even the little things get switched up so the class is refreshed and excited for the new something, they think they are having fun when really they're learning. I realized this quality from Miss. Dothage because she is always doing something new with her students. For example, she introduced highlighters to the Kindergartners and they love it, so they get to have fun using the highlighter, when they're really working on fine motor skills of highlighting.

October 27th
No school tomorrow. Students are writing their numbers and know them all the way up to fifty. I realize that a teacher must be very organized to keep the classroom running smoothly. They must be thinking one step ahead, all the time. Things just as simple as having the papers ready to go or cutting out things before hand. Miss. Dothage exerts this quality all the time, she is very good at it so her students can have the potential for maximum learning.
*We had a great October in here, hope you do too! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

21st of October!
Review. Review. Review. The kids have really been reviewing on everything they have learned since the beginning of school. They've been going over patterns, riddles, and calandar. Also, were working on them to read, using the sounds of the individual letters and putting them all together to make one word. They have been doing very well; reading has improved so much than from the first day of school when they barely new their name.

Oct 14
THE kids were very active; I mostly worked on busy bee books this week. This is what the students take home to show the parents what they have been doing. On top of that I am still finger painting the students calandars, these are almost done we have only three left to do.

THe week went very well. This was the week of fire safety and the kids were learning- get out and stay out. Also this week, The majority of the time I was helping the kids with their finger paint pictures that they will soon give to their parents. They will have a picture for each month on the calander.

Sept 30
What a great week! The kids are learning j's and we've really been working on the calandar- figuring out what the year is, how many days we've been in school, the month, and tallying the days. This whole week we were preparing for this Friday -Johny Appleseed Day. So to prepare I was helping the kids handprint apples on their shirts and doing an apple "prints" with them. :)

Sept 26
H and I are the letters this week. It was a great week with the kids. I am helping answer their questions, if they have any, on how to spell or write the word. For example, one boy drew a picture of a hippo and asked me how to spell it, so I helped him sound it out and he ended up writing HBP. And lastly today I painted the kids hands to resemble a turkey; we're making calendars for their parents and each month will have a different finger paint that the kids did.

Sept 16
This week was very exciting. I was really able to see the kids' progress in their writing. We worked on the letters F and G. I also got to have a little one on one time with them when we did "blue blocks". I would dab some paint on a block for them and they got to be creative and place the bock on a piece of paper wherever and however many times the wanted. Looking forward to next week!

September 9
D and E are the letters the kids are writing right now. Now they are learning what an AB pattern is and counting to thirty. They really enjoy doing this because we do something different every day. For example, we will jump to count, so every number we say we have to jump. This lets the kids have a fun and interactive learning environment and it's also so great to see them so happy and excited.
September 2
I was absent Thursday the1st, but the whole week the kids worked on the letter B and C. I am helping with their busy bee books. These books are what the kindergarteners take home every night to their parents, so they know what their child is doing.
August 26- 1st full week
I am loving to get to know the kids in the classroom. Right now they are learning the letter A. It is a little difficult helping the kids because you have to get to the fundamental basics of just how to write and pronounce it right.
August 19- Start of School
I am so excited to be cadet teaching. These first two days were interesting. I'm cadet teaching kindergarteners. Since this is the kids' first year of elementary, I have just been trying to get them oriented with the routines and newness of the classroom.
